What would your week look like if you took a moment, an hour, or a day to love on yourself in some capacity? It’s great to spend time doting on our friends, families and significant others. It’s noble to pursue our passions and strive for excellence in our schools/workplace but we would be doing ourselves a disservice if we neglect pouring into ourselves. The frequency and mode completely depends on you but the key is to do something that refreshes your mind, body and soul.
Lately, I’ve been showing my body some TLC by consistently working out. My sweat sessions are usually less than an hour and typically performed alone so that I can clear my head. I’ll be honest, there are days I just don’t feel like exercising and some days the activity itself feels far from a treat but in the grand scheme of things…I am rewarding my body.
Getting active was just the start. I’ve gotten back into the habit of reading for leisure – something I’ve loved since I was a kiddo. Lately, self-help and religious books have been on my radar but I LOVE a good fiction novel. (note: if you’re reading a good book at the moment, please share it with me!)
And lastly, sometimes I need to switch up my look in some form or fashion to give myself a little boost. Recently, it was a good old pedicure that did the trick. My soul is rejoicing at the fact that sandal season is upon us and I now have feet worthy enough to be shared with the world.
Work and other obligations are still present; that will never change but my response to a busy schedule can. I am choosing to find moments throughout the week to take care of myself and I hope you do the same. You’re worth it!
